Airline Consolidation:
How Could Proposed Changes Affect Travelers?
Rumors of proposed mergers, acquisitions, and consolidation of air carriers have

will actually take place and how those activities would affect the traveling public.
Industry analysts tell us that the time is now right and that 2008 could be the
year of consolidation.
In January of this year, The New York Times reported that executives at Delta Airlines
will seek approval from the National Transportation Board to initiate detailed merger
talks with United Airlines and Northwest Airlines. The main reason that Delta CEO
Richard Anderson gave for his request to start talks is that the two airlines’ route

ADTRAV in Action
ADTRAV met with Congressman Davis on Januaray 9th. ADTRAV took a major step in helping
NBTA make an impact on Congress. Roger hosted a fundraiser for Congressman Artur
Davis (D-AL) earlier this month. This successful event gave ADTRAV an opportunity
to showcase its operation and highlight positive community contributions. Additionally,
NBTA and ADTRAV were able to show the Congressman first hand how issues such as
travel taxes and traveler redress problems can impact the business travel industry.
NBTA's government relations department is constantly seeking opportunities to connect
the business travel industry with members of Congress. The education of elected
representatives is critical to the industry's ability to impact legislation.

the pillow, it was all up to the guest. Those days are long gone. Hotels both large
